Pura Vida Pilates: Costa Rica

Pura Vida Retreat and Spa in Alajuela, Costa Rica invites you to breathe in ‘pure life’ during your stay and enjoy your journey of inner exploration and outward adventure.

Pura Vida Retreat & Spa spans more than 8 acres at 4,265 feet above sea level surrounded by coffee plantations overlooking Costa Rica’s Central Valley. It's a mountaintop haven!

These deluxe style rooms feature gorgeous views. You'll have a private bathroom and a coffee maker in your room. Option for double occupancy or single occupancy with either 1 queen bed or 2 twin beds. Choice is available at checkout. If you choose double occupancy, you can request your roommate or have one assigned. 

Delicious dishes are lovingly prepared from fresh local produce and regional purveyors. Served buffet-style in the inviting dining hall, all meals feature both North American and Costa Rican vegetarian, fish and chicken dishes to tempt your taste buds and nourish your body and soul.

Meal times are:

Breakfast  – 7:30am-9:00am

Lunch – 12:30pm-2:30pm

Dinner – 6:30pm-8:00pm

Complimentary coffee, tea, alkaline water and filtered water are available throughout the day. The wine and juice bar in the dining hall stocks sulfite-free, organic wines, Costa Rican and Central American beers, and bottled water for an additional fee. It is also the place for fresh smoothies, and custom-blended chai and turmeric elixirs.

La Paz Waterfall:

One of Costa Rica’s most popular destinations, La Paz Waterfall Gardens, near the Poas Volcano, offers five stunning waterfalls and 3.5 kilometers of walking trails that wind past the country’s largest Animal Sanctuary and Butterfly Observatory, through gardens swarming with vivid hummingbirds, to the cloud forest, ending in sweeping views of the waterfalls. Friendly, knowledgeable local naturalists are your guides for this up-close and personal look at Costa Rica’s natural resources.

The Green Ark Botanical Gardens: 

The Ark is an ethnobotanical garden nestled in the slopes of Barva Volcano. More than 1,600 species of ornamental plants and fruits found throughout the garden. The walk ends with a visit to a small tree house built on a large ficus tree. A six-course lunch in a restaurant with amazing architecture and beautiful views of the Central Valley is the perfect closure to this ethnobotanical experience. The food is prepared mainly with products from the garden, making The Ark one of the few restaurants with the option of farm to table meals.

Take part in invigorating Mat Pilates classes taught by Theresa, focused on awakening your core, improving flexibility, and promoting overall well-being. Props and mats are included.  

The retreat center provides airport transportation (both to and from SJO airport). The retreat center also has a pool, hot tub, shopping boutique, and holistic garden on grounds.
